Discovering America by Bicycle | PART 35: ON TO THE ATLANTIC

From our lovely and historic BnB in Tilton, we make our way back to the Northern Rail Trail, then head south to its end near Concord. We explore the capitol city before setting off to Manchester, encountering a steep climb, our last significant climb of our entire trip. In Manchester, we stop for the evening before continuing on in the morning on the Rockingham Recreation Trail, which carries us across New Hampshire in spectacular fashion, through the late autumn colors, past lakes and marshes and woodlands. We’re still dealing with bouts of deep fatigue, but we recover, making our way into Portsmouth just as the sun is setting. Across the bridge into Kittery, Maine, and we make our way to our hotel, where we will wait out the second of the nor’easters. Dipping the tires will have to wait for a nicer day.
