Here is the playlist for this class. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCPmeVC51s8&list=PLWW1Xdyit9YF3AKupSctc9glsyP9c8wgZ
I have been making documentaries for over 58 years. Thousands of them. Million-dollar budgets. Thousand dollar budgets. Long form. Short form. Television. Cable. Commercials. Educational films. YouTube. Public presentation only. Nationally. Globally. Home movies. Family vacations. And in making all of these films and videos, I have performed in every role – producer, director, camera person, videographer, soundman, writer, editor, narrator, and distributor. To become a "filmmaker" I had to learn every one of these important positions by doing it firsthand.
At any level from a beginning amateur just creating home movies using their cell phones to top professionals in the documentary space creating feature-length documentaries) I have made six) or television specials or series, what I have got to say will help you get better.
It's not about technology although I referred to that in this class and try to help people understand what's important and what's not. It's about how you think and what you see and mostly what you hear.
Making documentaries is extraordinarily wonderful. And then away, anything that isn't thoroughly scripted is a documentary of some sort. Most of what I see on YouTube is "realistic", a questionable term when we have things like reality TV, but being real and credible is the essence, I believe, of making videos that attract, that stick with audiences, that create legacy.
This is the first lesson in my 10 part series. I do hope that you take the time to watch it as I believe it will have value for you. Here is lesson #2 -https://youtu.be/haTj1EbPsb8
