Nic Gres: Headman's song from Night in May by Rimsky-Korsakov (1955)

Nikolay Timofeyevich Gres sings The Headman's Song from the opera The Night in May by Rimsky-Korsakov. It was recorded with the Alexandrov Ensemble, date unknown (sorry, not the Bolshoi Theatre and not 1955 - my mistake).

Synopsis: The singer is a young lad and the hero of this opera. He and his friends sing about a headman in a cheeky manner... it's a sort of innuendo. They make fun of the local headman whom they don't like because he doesn't want the singer to marry the his daughter... They also sing -"Cossacks, enjoy yourselves (make merry)! (Oy, gulyai, gulyai, Kozak!)". (Thanks to LHaritonov for this information)
