Jackfruit Tamales Verdes VEGAN (Green Chile Tamales) | Jen Milos

Ingredients:

Note: This recipe makes about 8-15 tamales, depending on how big or small you want them. For the Masa Dough, you can always add more salt, oil, or broth/water if you think it needs more of it. Not everyone has the same taste buds.


You will need:
Dried Corn Husks

Masa dough:
-2 cups of Instant corn masa
-1 cup of vegetable broth
-3/4 cups of oil of your choice
-1Tablespoon of salt (I used regular spoon)
- 3 pinches of baking powder

Filling:

* 2-7 raw chiles of your choice
- 3 large raw tomatillos (or 4-6 small/medium tomatillos)
- 1/2 of a medium onion (or 1 small onion)
-2 garlic cloves
-vegetable broth or water.
-Clove Powder (to your taste)
-Black pepper (to your taste)
-mejorana powder (Marjoram in English)
-salt (to your taste)
-1 can of 14 oz. jackfruit in water (not in syrup)
-Cumin powder to your taste (for the jackfruit)
-Garlic powder to your taste (for the jackfruit)

Note: Raw tomatillos can be a little acidic and sharp-tasting. When cooked, their flavor tends to mellow, letting their sweeter side shine. Some people boil their tomatillos including the chiles before blending it.
