Home-made Hydraulic Ram Pump

For those of you considering building your own ram pump I have provided videos detailing the construction using simple off-the-shelf parts. This particular ram pump has run continuously for about 1 year. Let's take a peek inside and see how the check valves are holding up. Upon inspection I noticed that both brass swing check valves had significant wear at the hinge pin. This is not surprising since the valves open and close around 60 times every minute. I had expected the waste valve to show the most wear, however, this did not seem to be the case. Considering the amount of water this pump has lifted over the course of a year, annual valve replacement is not a lot to ask.
