Canon EOS R5 800mm f/11 Test @ 8K/30p

A look at the new Canon EOS R5 shooting video at 7680x4320/30p in 10 bit 422 CLOG. Features some local birds shot using the new 800mm f/11 Canon RF lens, sometimes with their 1.4x Tele-Extender. All shots are handheld no tripod used. The in body and lens stabilization on this system are excellent. Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro and exported at 7680x4320/30p HEVC 10 bit 4:2:0 color. Overheating was not an issue. The way you shoot wildlife most days involves a lot of downtime between takes. You shoot for 1-5 mins at most and tend to be down for 10-60 mins while you search for something else to shoot. Around the house shooting birds at a feeder I did get an overheat warning when I shot only 8K Raw and 4k/120p footage but it was after about 90 mins of walking around and shooting. I find if you shoot 4k60p or less you can pretty much shoot all day in this style, of shooting for 5 mins and down for 10 mins etc. It does not build up much heat at all with repeated 4k60p shots. If you do this at 4k/120p you will start go get the warning depending in an hour or two depending on how many things you find to shoot. I find it's important to remember to POWER OFF the camera after you are done with shooting a subject. Even if you THINK you will find something very soon, its best to turn it off because often you don't find anything else as quickly as you anticipated and the camera WILL build heat just having it on in standby mode thereby effecting the minutes you have until overheating once you start shooting again.
