We are in a very bad spot right now, and our animals are the ones who will suffer if we can’t get help fast. Donations have slowed to a crawl, we still haven’t finished paying April’s bills, and urgent veterinary needs keep piling up. Right now, nine animals in our shelter in Ukraine need medical care, surgeries, medications, or special prescription food. Many of them are seniors or medically fragile, and they cannot wait until things “get better.” We need help now to keep them healthy, comfortable, and alive. Will you stand with them?
Transform a Street Dog has been on the ground in Kyiv, Ukraine since 2018, rescuing homeless animals, supporting independent rescuers, and helping pets and their families escape the devastation of war. We are committed to giving animals a chance at safety, healing, and loving homes in the USA. But today, we are struggling to keep up with the most basic and urgent needs of the animals already in our care.
Some of these cases are ongoing and life-sustaining. Rambo and Ziggy both depend on insulin injections, blood sugar monitoring, veterinary follow-ups, and prescription diabetic food just to stay stable. Missing care is not an option for them.
Several animals need urgent surgeries and procedures. Betty needs tumor removal surgery and dental treatment before she can be adopted. Findi needs castration and an orthopedic examination after suffering painful rib injuries from being hit by a car. Chicco needs extensive dental care, and senior boy Scratch is overdue for a full health check-up.
Others are so close to their happy endings but still need help getting there. Frodo and Basya both need dental treatment as part of their adoption preparations, and Betty’s medical needs must also be completed before she can start her next chapter.
We are also trying to order critical veterinary diets for animals with special medical conditions. This is the reality of rescue in a war-torn country: the need never stops, and neither do the emergencies. But right now, the donations have slowed while the bills keep growing.
