Match Fishing on the River Ouse YDAA Poppleton June 2020
For my 2nd match since the ban on match fishing was lifted post lockdown, I'm on local ground this week as we head onto the River Ouse above York on the YDAA Poppleton length with the Yorkshire Bandit Angling Club.
This should have been the clubs 4th fishing match of the 2020/21 season. In this video I explain my general plan of attack and explain the changes I make during the 5 hour session to try and put some weight on the scales and maintain a strong position in the league. With a multitude of rigs, and methods at my disposal including feeder fishing for bream, whip fishing for bites, and trotting a bolo float, surely I'd find something that would work on the day?
The preceding days temperatures had been in the high 20's and early 30's. With the water levels running low and clear, the Ouse at Poppleton had not been in form or seen the resident bream shoals from further up the river move down from their spawning grounds into this section. Would a change in temperature and unsettled stormy weather make the fishing any better? Watch on to find out...
