Match Fishing on the Kennet and Avon Canal Hungerford

In this episode I travel south to the Kennet and Avon canal at Hungerford to compete in the 43rd WICAC Water Industries Coarse Angling Championships.

This event is full of prestige and history and having won the individual title in 2007 on the River Thames in Oxford, and individual 2nd on the River Calder in 2017 and 7 team wins under our Yorkshire belts, I was hopeful we could sneak a result despite a lack of practice on the venue.

The team plan was to fish the pole with caster fed out on the long line up the slope for at.stamo roach and oerch, squat on the inside whip line and groundbait and worm on the inside slope just back from the deepest part of the boat channel to target the bream and perch.

Pole fishing dominates on the Kennet and Avon Canal but the inside line would be in the whip fishing for small roach on the squat. Other possible methods were the bomb or small feeder and canal waggler.
