Choose The Right Keywords - Don't Make Them Too Obscure
It's been a little while since I've uploaded anything so I thought I'd share this quick little side by side graphic I made, along with a couple of updates on my business in general.
It can be beneficial to choose low search volume keywords, but don't go too low. If your topic is so obscure and so low volume that almost no one searches it, then you aren't going to get organic traffic from Google. That's a fact.
In the beginning you should lean towards long tail, lower competitions topics. However as soon as you can you should start mixing in some more competitive topics that have higher search volumes. If you never go for anything big you'll stay at the bottom, or it will take forever to get to the top.
This video shows an example of a site that I bought with the same amount of content as a site that I built myself. Fairly similar in age. The site I built is doing much better with both traffic and earnings, and it's because the creator of the other site wasn't ambitious enough in choosing his topics.
They were all so low competition that they pulled in almost no traffic. There was some decent content mixed in that was bringing in an OK amount of traffic, but it was mostly by accident.
