In this video we teach you how to remove an existing bathroom faucet and install a new faucet. The video shows you how to install new bathroom faucet on a pedestal sink but the instructions will also work for faucets in vanities. Typically with a pedestal style sink you need to remove the sink basin to access the the faucet for installation and removal. With the installation of a faucet in a vanity you can leave the sink in place and typically access the fixture from the cabinet underneath the sink.

These instructions are also valid for removing and installing a kitchen faucet, however the demonstration is using a bathroom faucet that needed to be replaced. The existing faucet was leaking and new cartridges and seals seemed impractical because of finding the right cartridges was difficult and the damage/corrosion to the faucet handles that made taking them apart impractical. Installing the a new bathroom faucet allowed for an update to the fixture and to install a taller fixture for better hand clearance in the sink.

To install the new faucet the most important thing to do is turn off the water. With the water turned off you can then begin disconnecting the water lines, waste lines and the sink from the wall and pedestal to prep it for installing the new faucet. I used a wrench, channel locks, pliers and a screwdriver to complete the removal and installation of the sink. We started with removing the water lines from the faucet, then progressed to removing the drain lines from the sink. With all the lines removed the anchors holding the sink basin to the wall were removed and the basin could be removed to install the new bathroom faucet.

It's a good idea to check the diameter of your existing water shut off valves. If they are a 1/2" outlet shut off valves you will typically need a shutoff adapter to fit newer bathroom faucet hoses which are typically 3/8".
