Durand Incubates her Five Eggs

April 18, 2011: Her first nesting experience, and she needed to figure out how to incubate all of the eggs. At first, she had them divided into two scrapes. Now they are all together.

From the ODNR website:

"The primary job of the male during the incubation phase is to provide food for Durand. He should also take over incubation duty when she leaves the nest to eat. Keep in mind this is likely his first time nesting as well, so it may take some time for him to realize what he is supposed to be doing."

Recorded at 3:30 PM local time

Falco peregrinus

1st egg: 4/3
2nd egg: 4/6
3rd egg: 4/8
4th egg: 4/10
5th egg: 4/13
Expect hatching to begin: A successful hatch requires 32-34 days of consistent warmth, but she has had them in separate scrapes and has not been consistent with incubation.
