Light Morning Yin Yoga | Upper Body Focus
Enjoy this light morning yin yoga sequence for the upper body. Ease your way into the day with todays practice to support the shoulders, chest, back and neck. #yinyoga #morningyin #upperbodyyin #yoga
Good morning! Todays practice is a light one. This yin yoga sequence is great to release upper body tension, especially if you sit a lot and/or want to improve your posture.
P.S In sphinx, feel free to place a block under the forehead if it becomes to much to stay up on the forearms. Alternatively, you can wedge a pillow between the backs of your arms and chest for support.
Doing yin first thing in the morning is ideal as the body is still "cold". This allows for a stronger pull on the ligaments, thus increasing range of motion over time.
YOU WILL NEED: NO PROPS
Grab your coffee, tea or coco water and meet me on the mat!
Be sure to let me know how it went for you in the comments!

What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is MAGIC. Well, that is how I would describe it. Yin yoga is a practice that that allows you to go beyond the superficial layers of the body and access the deeper layers. This means in a Yin Yoga practice you are going beyond the muscles and right into the deep connective tissues of the body. Our connective tissues are made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form our joints. Therefore, when you practice Yin Yoga you are able to increase your range of motion, your flexibility and strengthen your joints. A win win! If you ask me. Yin yoga is more than stretching, we are “stressing” the connective tissues and we do this with longer holds and intuitive breathing.
When practicing always remember
1. Meet the pose at YOUR edge (gradually)
2. Find stillness and focus on your breath
3. Resolve to be still
