Why is it that one place in the world has the highest rate of melanoma by a large margin? Dr Ankit looks at how your skin type effects your risk of skin cancer and the varying levels of UV around the world.

Main points:
1. There are three common types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and melanoma. Of the three, melanoma is the most aggressive type of skin cancer.
2. The risk of melanoma is influenced by your skin type and the amount of UV exposure in your lifetime. Sunburns are a direct result of damage to the skin by Ultraviolet light.
3. Certain places in the world have high levels of UV exposure, making them melanoma hot spots!
4. The highest rate of melanoma in the world is in the state of Queensland in Australia.
