Labor unsuccessful in its bid to amend JobKeeper provision

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Labor has been unsuccessful in its bid in the Senate to amend a controversial provision within the JobKeeper legislation.

Mr Clennell said the provision relates to a business, which has come off JobKeeper, as long as they show 10 per cent loss of turnover from last year, will be allowed to reduce employees hours.

"Labor wanted an assurance that employers would keep people at the JobKeeper rate of $600," Mr Clennell said.

"They argue a retail worker could end up on $450 dollars working three days a week, whereas someone not working at all on JobKeeper gets $600 a week".

Mr Clennell said Senator Stirling Griff and One Nation leader Pauline Hanson voted against the Labor amendment, securing support for the government.

Mr Clennell also said Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese "raised a couple of eyebrows" by saying he would be nominating Labor MP Anne Aly to replace Mike Kelly on the Intelligence and Security Parliamentary Committee.
