Implementing Children's Rights in African Households

Join us in another episode of the Africa Matters webinar series where we zone in on Implementing Children's Rights in African Households.

This conversation will be led by Dr Elvis Fokala, an experienced Lecturer of Law with a demonstrated history of working in the research industry. Skilled in Child Law, Family Law, International Law, Policy Analysis, Constitutional law (in relation to Africa). He has a strong education professional background – he holds: LLB (University of Buea, Cameroon) LLM (Centre for Human Rights - University of Pretoria, South Africa) and PhD (Institute for Human Rights - Åbo Akademi University, Finland). He is currently, a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Law, Stellenbosch University.

Dr Fokala has published several research publications relating to children’s rights in Africa. His recent article, titled ‘Calibrating children’s right to participate in a family setting 30 years after the adoption of the convention on the rights of the child and the African Children’s Charter’ will be published in Speculum Juris volume 2, 2020.

Dr Fokala is also the Secretary-General of the African Network of Constitutional Lawyers, with Secretariat at the Department of Public Law, at the University of Cape Town.
