Frank Marshall (10 August 1877 – 9 November 1944) was an American chess master and author.

He won at London 1899 and the 1904 Cambridge Springs International Chess Congress (ahead of Lasker). He took 5th at St. Petersburg 1914.

Marshall was the U.S. Champion and played a match against Emanuel Lasker for the World Championship in 1907.

He served as captain of the four gold-medal U.S. Olympiad teams during the 1930s.

He opened the Marshall Chess Club in 1915.

Several chess opening variations are named after him. The most famous could be the Marshall Attack in the Ruy Lopez.

The Gold Coins Game, is a famous game played by Stepan Levitsky and Marshall.

Marshall beat Lasker, Capablanca and drew with Alekhine, Euwe.
