Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days - Ruler Of The Sky (LV1 Proud) *No Damage*

Here we go, now this is the one I imagine most people were waiting for. As far as I know, not a single person on Youtube has shown this being done on Lv1 during the main story. I can kind of understand why because this is a very long fight but it's also really not that hard. The more I played through Days, the more I realized that a lot of infamous fights in this game are actually really easy if you just take your time and don't try to rush it.

Overall, this fight is not hard in the slightest with only one exception and I'll get to that when I get to it. At first the Ruler just flys around aimlessly and your trying to chip away at it's tail. There is really not much you can do here and while Champion Gear doesn't have a great combo for this, all the matters is a strong and fast first hit. Occasionally it will shoot projectiles from its tail and its pretty well telegraphed. The Ruler has this animation where it sharply bends its tail downward almost like its stretching and this is a sign that the projectiles are going to happen.

After breaking a tail segment, then you get to the hardest part of the entire fight. Seriously, if this one segment did not exist, this might be one of the easiest bosses in the whole game to no damage. It will start the phase with a massive explosion so you need to be ready to run the moment its tail breaks. After that, it will put up a barrier and start rush back and forth. In the best case scenario, you want to fly perpendicular to it so you can put the boss as far away as possible. This comes with a massive caveat though as its attack becomes longer the more segments are destroyed. By the end, you simply do not have enough room to fly straight even if you have your back against the wall. During the second and third phase, you want to try and fly towards an angled edge of the area so you have room for slight turns. If you become cornered, your best option is to slowly turn until you can make the Ruler fly directly above and in front of you. Then you can shift sides when it starts flying towards you. You can see an example of this during the my third phase where I cross from it being on my left to my right. This is NOT as easy as it looks and will sometimes just hit you anyway. Afterwards, it will do the coin barrage which is easy enough to avoid by being low. Just be aware that you cannot approach the boss until after three full barrages.

If you can last breaking all four segments of the tail, your practically home free. Get a bit of distance from the Ruler and stay perfectly still while it flies around you in a circle. It will shoot out projectiles in a rhythm and all you have to do is just fly up and down. Luckily, it appears the icicles are programmed to never pop up directly below you during this so it's safe to not move.

After avoiding the circling attack, it will begin using the coin barrage from the first phase but now it will no longer fly away. You can simply fly in from below start getting in some chip damage. You could do full combos but I didn't want to risk something going wrong due to me falling to the water so fast. After a while, it will stop and go into a holding position where you can safely attack it's weak point. No matter what you do, do not do more then four combos if your using Champion Gear. If you do, you run the risk of getting hit by the claws which have hitboxes WAY larger then the attack. Just stay far away until it does four claw stabs and then it will be open for more hits before restarting the whole cycle again.
