Great Lakes freighters have a rich history that is too often overlooked as people seek out the disasters, collisions, fires and shipwrecks. This it Part One of a two part video that first introduces you to a forgotten wooden lake freighter and then tells you the history of the other boats in view, all but one of which met they end in a storm, or collision, fire or shipwreck. If you are a do it yourself historian and you want to get a sense of how to develop an eye and skill for seeking out these details, this is a prime example of how to squeeze amazing history and disasters from a single photograph.

This is the introduction- but part two is when you get to see what happened to the vessels that you have been introduced to.
