26 December 2019 - Day 126 - Atacama to Uyuni | 375

Day 126: We head out of the little town of Quetena Chico and make our way north towards the Uyuni Salt Flats! First stop is in the little town of Villa Mar where we get to see llamas up and close for the first time! Such funny looking long-necked wooly creatures, they were quiet shy and curious things as they stared blankly back as I made faces at them. 🤪

Next we checkout the sights at Valle de Rocas, large formations of volcanic rocks, then arrive at Lagunas Vinto and Negra. At this little oasis we have lunch and spend the afternoon climbing rocks to see viewpoints and walking through grassy fields with wild llamas and sheep.

We arrive in the town of San Juan just south of the salt flats where we stay for the night. An early night as we will be leaving at 4am tomorrow to catch the sunrise at Uyuni Sal Flat!! Don’t miss out on tomorrow! 🌅 🚙
