Radiant Heat Using a Condensing Tankless Water Heater.

This video is about my existing radiant concrete floor heat system using a new Rheem gas condensing tankless water heater that I installed about 4 weeks before this video was taken. This is not a boiler and was not designed to be used as a source for radiant heat. I thought I would take a gamble and connect it to my existing domestic hot water/floor heat system that used a forced vent tank style water heater that sprung a leak after an amazing 27 years.

I explain in the video how the system supplies domestic hot water as well as hot water for the floor heat. I also explain how the two hot water loops are isolated from each other with the use of a heat exchanger.

The room that is being heated by this system is only about 400 sq, ft. The maximum factory water temperature output of this heater is 140 deg. so if you were going to heat an entire house with hot water heat you may need temperatures of 180 deg. or higher. In that case I would then recommend a tankless boiler unit that is designed solely for that purpose.
