Why Your New "High Efficiency" Hot Water Boiler Isn't Saving Money On Fuel Costs

Why isn't your high-efficiency boiler saving you any money?? These systems are designed to run cooler water temps for longer periods of time, yet the consumer is "conditioned" to expect instant gratification from their heating system. The old cast iron water boilers generate very hot water, and run for shorter time periods because the water heats up the house very fast. This is not the case with Mod/Con High Efficiency units. Many people are not educated that these heating systems function different and the consumer must make changes on how they operate their thermostats. To make matters worse, few boiler installers even understand the proper way to install, pipe and size these systems properly to ensure proper fuel savings and function of the boiler. This all means the 20-30% fuel savings you'd expect is washed away by boiler over-sizing and improper use. More videos to come that will deal with the boiler over-sizing epidemic as well. This is where you'll see you boiler "short cycling" which causes more wear and tear on the system.
