How To Improve Your Hip Mobility (3 Powerful Exercises) : TENNIS FITNESS

Improve Your Hip Mobility
The hip is one of the most overlooked training areas by tennis players. Jeff Salzenstein shares three powerful exercises to improve your hip mobility, increase your flexibility, and get stronger.

These amazing corrective exercises can help you move more explosively, and hit your groundstrokes with more power once you’re back on the tennis court. Jeff also delivers a bonus exercise to complement this pro workout routine.

Here’s a brief description of each exercise:

Exercise One: Hip Dislocations

You’re going to sit down, keep your legs straight into a “v” formation, and put your hands behind your back. Then, you’re going to gently rotate your leg in and out, while keeping good posture.

If you have any pain while performing the exercise, you must immediately stop.

Exercise Two: V Iso Sit And Reach

You’ll start in a v position with your legs straight. Iso stands for isometric, which means that you’re going to hold the position. You’ll put your hands behind your back, and pull up your toes. Afterwards, you’re going to push into the ground for a count of three. Then, you’ll put your hands forward while keeping a straight back.

Exercise Three: Kneeling Abductor Pulse

You’re going to get on your knees, and extend one leg out to the side. Sit back towards the heel of the back foot, and then start to walk with your hands forward until you feel a stretch.

Bonus Exercise: Hip Circles

You’re going to stand and work on your balance. Bring one leg up 90 degrees and slowly open up the gate. Then, you can perform the opposite movement and alternate sides.

There are a lot of players with knee and lower back pain due to a lack of proper hip mobility. Thus, performing these corrective hip exercises are going to help you release tension, increase range of motion, and get stronger.
