First, Jeff recommends using a semi-western grip on your tennis forehand because it will allow you to keep the racquet face closed on your backswing. He stresses the importance of having your index finger spreaded and wrist relaxed. Next, Jeff suggests keeping your elbow away from the body as you perform the first move. Thus, you create proper spacing and get your racquet into the ideal backswing position.

Then, Jeff advises exaggerating your wrist range of motion, which requires great flexibility on your forearm as well. Finally, Jeff demonstrates a simple tennis drill to practice your tennis forehand backswing. A great tool that can help you master this drill and your forehand swing path is the topspin pro.
