Here is my quick observation form using these pedals with a synth if you care to know:-)

Keeley Mag Echo – I was really surprised by this one, if I am correct this is in fact a digital pedal that simulates tape echo sounds of the vintage units and it does the job really well indeed. To me it sounds pleasantly full bodied, round and warm, is very musical and complements your basic tone very nicely pushing it to the front of the mix which is how I like it. A great pedal for sure!

Electro Harmonix Memory Boy – this is one of the more basic Memory Boys in the EHX catalog but it is still wonderful, like most EHX pedals it has a definite analog character, is vibey, organic and really stands out in the mix. I love EHX pedals especially with synths - EHX is a classic for a reason, you simply cannot go wrong with EHX!

Fender Mirror Image – this is basically a digital delay pedal which despite being a little brighter in its overall presentation did not bother me at all as it posseses a nicely musical character that really blends well with your synth lines. I like this one a lot and would not have any problem using it as my only delay pedal.

Ik Multimedia AmpliTube X-Time – I am not sure about this one, it has a a nice design with inviting and accessible user interface, has a lot of options and extra functionality but still there is something that puts me off about the big multi-functional delay pedals. More often than not what it offers in features it lacks in personality and character. This particular unit is not bad at all, but for my own workflow it offers maybe too much stuff that I would probably never find a use for like the more experimental or exotic delay types so in the end I would basically utilize some 20-30% of the pedal´s full potential and for me it would be a waste. Also you can quickly drown yourself in the many possibilities to control and sculpt your sound that may end up being contruproductive when all you want is to set up your tone quickly and get a great delay sound going on fast without spending day and night tweaking. If you have all the time and patience to experiment or prefer all in one solutions, this pedal will certainly deliver but it just did not work for me as well as the other offerings. It might be just me and my own lack of experience and patience to learn more sophisticated technology – it is true but I admit I just prefer the more simplistic designs that bring me to where I want to get quick and easy and that is why the more basic delay pedals that each have kind of „one type of sound“ do it for me more than the high dollar flagship multi-delays that are trying to be a lot of things all at once but sometimes fail on bringing the authentic vibe and unique sound print that the dedicated smaller units often have over the more sophisticated pedal workstations.

Enjoy!
