Picking Up Our Seed Corn/Last Snowstorm of the Season?/First Batch of Maple Syrup Ever!
There can be a very long time between the first day of spring and the first spring day. It has to be coming though, right? A sure sign of spring is the arrival of our seed corn. We travel to Pine City to grab our seed corn and crop spray. Of course, a trip to Pine City means a stop at A&W. Winter isn't quite ready to quit as we ended up getting a messy storm that came through, leaving us with the cleanup again. After the storm moved on, it was time to check our maple syrup taps, which resulted in a long walk back to the farm after Jen and Jessica got the snowmobile stuck. The Canadian geese on the river were a fun sight though on our trek. We collected about 7 gallons and a friend gave us another 3 to start boiling. It was a late night, but the tasty maple syrup was a welcome reward.
