In Your Eyes is a song I've always loved and one I've always wanted to cover. I've been thinking for a long time that I'd like to produce a special video for this song and after months of ruminating on the idea, I finally took the leap. This is my first full-production music video and I really stepped out of my comfort zone in trying something completely new.

The original song is very piano/synths-centered, so my first order of business was figuring out how to give this song the Vesper treatment and put the acoustic guitar front and center. I landed on the always-beautiful DADGAD open tuning as my starting point. Once I had the arrangement sorted out, I spent multiple sessions with Andre recording the many tracks that comprise the layers of this beautiful song, all the while envisioning the video in my mind and formulating ideas. I decided to film the video in nature and my first thought was the beach, but practical considerations led me to turn instead to the natural beauty right around the corner from my home. In between the sessions at Andre's, I spent countless hours at my favorite park capturing the magic of Mother Nature on video as she transformed from summer to fall. Many of the most beautiful moments in this video were happenstance occurrences - beams of magical light catching the camera just the right way just as my camera was pointed in a particular direction; a gust of wind blowing leaves into the frame just as I was singing a particular line; the setting sun reflecting flashes of light off the face of my guitar as though it was punctuating each strum. Was it really happenstance, or was there a co-creator sending magic into my path to cheer me on in my creative endeavors? I think I know the answer :)

A very special thank you to my close friends, Andre and Matt, without whom this project would have never taken flight. Both of these men are not only good friends, but very talented, skilled and generous with their time and support. Both devoted hours to this project, tolerating its ever-expanding scale and my obsessiveness with the utmost of grace and patience. I am so lucky to have them as friends.

My hope is that as you watch this video, you will feel all of the love I poured into it. I hope it warms your heart, makes you smile and brings a little love and light to your day.
