Watching hope and change ascend to high
All the colors waving left your stomach churning
Deep in your gut you hope it ends soon
Now there's a snake oil salesman singing your tune
He's got ways, he's got means, the tide is turning

What a fine mess you've got us in

He said out loud the dirty things you thought
A wink and smile at you got him the power he sought
You propped him up and turned a blind eye to his depravity
You bought the mass of lies he sold
You said his circus act would never grow old
And now we teeter on the edge of a calamity

More hatred, more guns
More haze to block the sun
More of who we are undone
Circling the drain thanks to you

You cower inside the churches you built
Sanctimonious and free of guilt
Your shiny shoes reflect back your moral poverty
