Eurovision 1972 - France

Betty Mars performing "Comé-Comédie", the French entry at the Eurovision Song Contest.

It's quite obvious that the French went for an Edith Piaf fascimile here, and they got it in such a large degree that it's almost unnerving - from Betty's voice, who sounds as close to Piaf as anyone could get, to the song itself, that could have quite easily been a part of the legendary singer's catalogue. Eventually, the trick didn't work for them in the voting (maybe the juries thought it was too much of a gimmick), but this is still a good song and performance, even if it doesn't belong to France's best, IMO. Btw, I've heard that Betty had a quite tragic ending - any info on that?
