Eurovision 1972 - Italy
Nicola di Bari performing "I Giorni dell' Arcoballeno" ("The Days of the Rainbow"), the Italian entry at the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest.
I know that, um, certain people are quite tired of me waxing lyrical about Italian entries, but this is really one for which I just can't resist doing so, and quite simply one of my biggest favorites from Italy - a truly magical, breathtaking song, with beautiful poetic lyrics, that just transports me every time I listen to it. All this, plus a wonderful performance by Nicola di Bari, who had won the Sanremo festival a few months before, making these one of only 2 times after 1966 that the Italians sent their actual Sanremo winning song to Eurovision - the other one being their swansong at the contest, 1997's "Fiumi di Parole".
