Economic inequality becoming ‘mainstream discussion’ in Australia
Redbridge Group Director Simon Welsh says there is a sense among middle Australia that “something is rotten in the state of Denmark”.
New research seems to suggest that there is a growing consciousness amongst voters around the issue of economic inequality.
Specifically, how our systems around tax, housing, health and education are working to make the rich richer and the poor poorer.
“They see it in the tax system ... this idea that there are these structures that perpetuate and exacerbate inequality,” Mr Welsh told Sky News Australia.
“They are saying the tax system perpetuates it, the property market perpetuates it, the way health and education services are funded.
“It’s become a really mainstream discussion in a way that it wasn’t 12 months ago.”
