“Faith Journeys with God in the Land” Part 11

Take a walk with Dr. John to Masada and down to the northern palace. This devotional was filmed on location of this palace-fortress built by Herod the Great. Located on the western shoreline of the Dead Sea, Masada (called Metzada in Hebrew, a word which means “fortress”) was later used by nearly 1,000 Jews who used this stand-alone mountain as a place of refuge against the Romans following the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD. Today, Masada serves as a symbol of bravery and strength for all Israelis! Today, visitors to the site can ascend to the top either by cable car or by walking the Snake Path on the east side or the Roman Ramp on the west side.

In our faith journey with God, we are invited to trust God in every circumstance. After all, God is our “Metzada,” our fortress in times of trouble and uncertainty. Like these brave and determined Jews nearly 2,000 years ago who held out on top of Masada for as long as they could, we also can hold on to God in times of difficulty and challenge. Claim God as your “Metzada” today!
