Riding the whirlpools of the world's strongest tidal current at Saltstraumen, Norway

The whirlpools of Saltstraumen are the world's most powerful maelstrom. They are situated 10 kilometres south-east of the city of Bodø in Norway. Their impressive strength is caused by the world's strongest tide passing through a narrow channel which connects with the huge Skjerstadfjord and causes a colossal tide which in turn produces the maelstrom. Our visit to the malestrom was on a RIB, and was lead by a Norwegian ex-special forces hard man.
