There was no representation or single female figure to be named as Beowulf's mother .There was only a hint of absence or abandonment .Beowulf isn't Oedipal (That title belongs to Grendel).To Beowulf each woman is independent of the past, an entity within themselves and of themselves , filled with a power he can never fully know but holds in the highest regard . Beowulf doesn't see women as his mother , or seek his mother in women ..

Beowulf's lack of a mother taught him how to make it on his own learn how to be capable to find strength from within , he was nurtured inside the murky womb of Mother earth's Sea of emotions and learned love from those who shared loved with him( physically emotionally and spiritually ;Wealthow ,The Mermaid and Grendel's mother )
The murky womb represents experience within reality , the limit to the limitless depths of our understandings in life ,
especially that from love, specifically the source of love from women .
The womb has to be labeled murky as it is seen from Beowulf perspective and he identifies as Male and Heterosexual . (It seems before being king he may be labeled a Geate ;but not a Gay-ate - though he respects those who as his equal )
Murky doesn't necessarily mean gloomy but rather unclear dark ,secret ,suspicious , questionable.
The connotation isn't negative but rather positive as it emphasizes Beowulf character and his attraction ,interest ,desire to connect and understand despite distance detachment and previous experience .

Beowulf has desire to love for loves sake - not to receive classical oedipal nurturing .

The final kiss from Grendel's mom is sign of a balance of yin and yang a Freudian developmental progression and Jungian transformation Vis-à-vis destruction of the archetypal core ,or a reincarnation into divine beloved oneness, like aesthetics of Klimt's Kiss , the enlightening embrace of the eternal sexual death.
