-The movie itself is a representation of male +female physical development and awareness into sexuality and sexual identity as depicted through modern day physical manifestations of the characters of the Bible ( Jesus Mary Magdalene LAZARUS etc )..In so doing explaining Existential (Kierkegaard 3 Stages) epistemological & ontological nature of pleasure/pain (BDSM) -- importance of subjective perspective submission power trust faith --

It also explains why JESUS WEPT ...His best friend Lazarus is dead The only time Jesus cries (tears of absolute BLISS )... because he gave everything he had for the single purpose at the present moment with only hope / faith .Lazarus is "resurrected" and lives the rest of his life helping others help themselves. Jesus gives his life on the cross with only a hope/faith in others , that it will be enough ..before a resurrection.

1st -Aesthetic Stage. The main motivation in this stage is pleasure. .Freud pleasure principle.. eat food have sex drink buy etc feel good .
2nd -V. Frankl -Man's Search for Meaning The Ethical Stage. a person has risen above her aesthetically focused mode of operation,and searched for morality in society and the self .Finding a way , deciding what is right for your own reasons .
3rd -Nietzsche -The will to power -- The Religions stage - the stage itself doesn't mean to have religion but it’s about progressing past the previous two stages in life — and taking a leap of faith into something profound and pulsating(Knowledge Love Art Charity Spirituality, etc ) while moving away from particular things (possessions, experiences,sometimes even people) .
The work involved is the reward , one consistently restarts in a sort of dedicated circularity , "The zen of .. etc .. " Consistently discovering new pleasures , new meaning within and around the purpose.
