Tennis elbow pain can be difficult to get rid of. But there are highly effective home exercises for tennis elbow pain that can help you find elbow pain relief. Tennis elbow, also known as lateral epicondylitis, doesn't have to come about from playing tennis. Any activity that causes physical stress to the outer elbow region can flare the lateral elbow tendon tissue and lead to elbow pain.

In this video we will discuss the underlying anatomy and pathology that creates the sharp, pinpoint elbow pain that is commonly referred to as tennis elbow pain. After you understand what is leading to your tennis elbow pain then we will give you one stretch and two strengthening exercises to help you get back to pain-free elbows.

The first tennis elbow pain relief home exercise is a stretch of the forearm flexor and extensor muscles. The stretch involves passively stretching the wrist and finger extensor muscles that lead directly to the lateral epicondyle of the elbow. It is these extensor tendons that become inflamed and cause the sharp elbow pain.

For our second elbow pain relief exercise we will be teaching you a simple, but effective, elbow muscle strengthening exercise. For this exercise you can use something light as the weight, something you can find in your home. No need for any fancy gym equipment. Treating your tennis elbow pain by addressing the weakness in elbow muscle strength is key to getting lasting elbow pain relief.

For our third home exercise we will teach you a finger extensor strengthening exercise using a rubber band. This self-treatment for elbow pain can help cure tennis elbow by strengthening the finger extensor muscles that come directly off the lateral epicondyle of the elbow. It is the lateral epicondyle of the elbow where the elbow pain comes from in tennis elbow.

We will also cover where and how to ice your elbow for pain relief. And we will cover use of a tennis elbow strap / brace called the Band-It Brace.
