3 Pat Metheny Licks From 1986
Here's the next episode of Three-For-All with 3 Pat Metheny Licks From 1986. I've had a lot of requests to feature more jazz, funk, classical, acoustic, blues, and other styles/forms of music, so I figured hitting some Pat Metheny in this lesson would be a great place to start as far as shaking things up on the LNL channel.
Pat's a legend of jazz guitar and his long-standing career extends back to the early 1970s before his name and music really blew open in that decade. Aside from working with legends such as Jaco Pastorius, Joni Mitchell, and countless others, he's fronted his own Pat Metheny Group and various side-projects for decades and has won twenty Grammy awards for his music.
During his lengthy career, he's always had a firm grip delivering his distinct melodic phrasing, unusual chords/progressions, along with a signature stamp on various licks and runs, not to mention an extended soloing style that's very unique and impressive. There's really only one Pat Metheny and this lesson just scratches the surface of his incredible musicianship and wealth of ideas.
The ideas contained in this episode come from a live jazz festival appearance in France from 1986 and captures Pat unleashing all sorts of interesting ideas and slick licks. From bluesy sounds with jazzy twists to finger-twisting slip-n-slide phrases, blurry legato runs, hybrid-picked ideas, and much more - there should be something for just about everybody hiding in this lesson.
