In this lesson, we’re diving into a true Irish icon: Whiskey in the Jar. Whether you’re gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day or just looking to add a legendary folk anthem to your repertoire, this tune is an absolute essential for every tin whistle player! ☘️

The Story Behind the Song:
Believe it or not, this song dates all the way back to the 17th century! Set in the mountains of Cork and Kerry, it tells the tale of a highwayman who is betrayed by his lover after robbing a government official. It’s been sung in many forms over the centuries—from the traditional versions of The Dubliners to the rock riffs of Thin Lizzy and Metallica—proving that a great Irish melody never goes out of style.

As I’m still a beginner on the tin whistle myself, this lesson focuses on getting the notes and the rhythm solid. I’ve skipped the ornaments for now so we can focus on the core melody together—stay tuned for a follow-up video.
