Mini Lathe Centre Drill Storage Holder #shorts
A simple holder to keep the centre drills I keep around my Chinese mini lathe tidy but accessible. The hook section is shaped to fit over the angled top edge of the chip tray / splash guard.
Granted it would have been much quicker to just drill 4 holes in a block of wood, but that wouldn’t have taught be anything about choosing print orientations which remove the need for support structures.
The model was drawn in Design Spark Mechanical 6.0 and sliced with PrusaSlicer 2.7.1.
Printed on a Creality Ender 5 S1 in around 2 hours and 9 mins, using around 7.5m of 1.75mm PLA filament with 5% gyroid infill. The ‘holes down’ orientation means supports are not required (relies on good adhesion to the textured PEI build plate though). I’m sure it could be done much faster, but my preference is to dial everything down to get a decent print first time, rather than wasting filament on failed prints just for the sake of pushing the envelope.
If anyone would like to print their own, the files can be found on Printables: https://www.printables.com/model/741588-mini-lathe-centre-drill-storage-holder
Note: the close up camera is *behind* the nozzle and the wide shot is in *front* , so it can appear that the print is running reversed when in reality it isn’t.
