Building A Tailstock Die Holder For The Lathe

I’ve been keeping my eye open for a tailstock die holder for a while but one’s never come up a the right price.

When I came across a scrapped gas regulator, I figured it would be a good starting point to build my own.

Clearly not everyone will have one of these lying around, but making something similar from new stock should present few problems.

This film shows the process to make a tailstock die holder for my 7x14 Chinese mini lathe.

I know brass won’t be nearly as durable as steel, but it’ll be more than adequate for the occasional use it’ll see in my home machine shop.

POST UPLOAD UPDATE:

Thanks for all the comments and feedback :-)

I've read them all, but I’ve not the time to respond individually.

In response to queries about the little bottle I keep my cutting fluid in, they're freely available on eBay and the Chinese shopping sites. Just search for needle dropper bottles. They come in different sizes and are quite inexpensive.
