Making a Low Noise Compressor More Workshop Friendly

I recently swapped my ‘conventional’ piston compressor for a much quieter ‘fridge type’ that better suits my needs.

Having a small workshop means not much is lucky enough to have a permanent home: many tools have to have wheels so they can moved out to use, and pushed out of the way when they’re finished with. The new-to-me Bambi BB24V compressor is no exception.

This video gives a brief comparison of my old and new compressors, and shows how I used the mini lathe to turn a piece of scrap aluminium into two threaded bushes to allow castors to be fitted to the compressor’s tubular frame.

This is one of those quick projects that didn’t really justify a film, but I quite enjoy the process even when there’s nothing too taxing about the engineering involved.
