Former Acting Solicitor General On Trump's Impeachment Defense: 'It’s a Clown Show'

Former US Acting Solicitor General @Neal Katyal gave me a breakdown of the impeachment trial on Instagram Live. We talked about Trump’s lawyer’s performance in the trial. “It was atrocious beyond words,” Neal said. “I don’t think the president has good legal arguments at the end of the day… There was a real gap of presentation and logic and skill in execution. From top to bottom it was abysmal.”

I also asked Neal why there aren’t more conservative legal scholars coming to Trump’s side. “No one will touch this impeachment case and the one reason is they just don’t trust Trump in the end,” Neal said. “He won’t pay the bills for one thing. If the trial goes south he’ll attack the lawyer. He’ll never take responsibility himself.”
