How To Care For Jade Plant Indoors | Grow Fast And Thick Trunk | Watering, Sunlight & Transplanting

I will show you how to get Jade plant to grow fast and get a thicker trunk like mature plant. Sharing my personal experience of growing them. Jade is very easy to grow and care for. They don’t need much attention from you. Perfect plant for a beginners who are getting into plants.
Sunlight - They like direct sunlight and thrive in sunny locations in your home. I keep mine in south, west and east facing windows. South or west facing light is the best. Make sure to keep at least one feet away from the windows glass. It can burn in the summer and can get a frost bite in winter. Also make sure to rotate your plant at least twice a month for even growth.
Watering - Water thoroughly when it’s completely dry. You can check by putting your finger down to your second knuckle if soil is dry you can water it. The other way to check is look for a little gap between the edge of the pot and soil line. When soil is dry it shrinks, it creates this gap. It’s perfect time to water. You can also use a moisture meter. Make sure to insert in few different places in the pot to get proper reading. Jade plants are succulents. They store water in their leaves. So they don’t need to be watered as much. I water mine every 2-3 weeks even longer in winter. Just be careful watering in the bigger pots. It will take more time to dry out compare to smaller pot.But depends if your house is too dry and you live in very dry climate. In summer they might dry out faster. So make sure to check regularly every 10 -12 days.
Fertilizer - I fertilize my Jade plants twice a year when they are putting a lot of growth. Once in summer and in late winter. They are not very picky plants. They just grow for.You can use any fertilizer of your choice. Make sure to read the label and dilute it little more to be safe.
Transplanting - once you bring your plant home, give it week or two to acclimate to your home before transplanting it. Just to make sure it’s not going through so many changes at once. Jade plants don’t have very big root system but they will still do well in a bigger pot. Keep moving it into a bigger pot every 3 to 4 months when you see it’s putting out a lot of new growth. It will if you give it proper conditions. Once you reach your desire size you can stop. They can grow up to six feet indoors.
Pruning - Never hesitate to prune your plant when it gets bigger and bushier. It will encourage more growth. You can propagate all the cuttings. I’ll show you that in another video on how to do it in few different ways and the best way to propagate with 100% success rate that I prefer. I will show you how I propagate while dealing with fungus gnats in the house. How to keep propagation moist without worrying about gnats getting into them.
Also I’ll be pruning my bigger plant because it’s getting heavier on one side and to display the trunk more
How to know if your plant is too dry? Leaves will get wrinkly and soft. It is too dry at this point and using up all the water from its leaves. Make sure to give it good watering right away and move it to shade. It will perk up in few hours if not by next day. Once it’s all plump again you can move it in full sunlight. It will not die on you. It has happened to me couple of times. They revive very easily.
