How to Prune & Shape A Jade plant Into A Mini Tree | Step By Step Guide | Tips & Tricks

I will show you how prune and shape your Jade plant into a mini tree. It is a succulent ( crassula ovata)
Sharing my personal experience of pruning, growing and propagating Jade plants indoor. These plants don’t require much attention from you. They are very easy to grow.
I’m pruning my 3 year old jade plant which I have pruned twice before in last 2 years.
Accessing - First we are going to access the plant. Make sure it’s at least 10 - 12 inch tall and have quite a few branches. Bigger mature plant is much better for pruning.
Pruning - once you decide which branches you would like to remove then you can use a clean knife or pruner. If you want it to branch out you can above two leaves or above the ring on the stem which is called leaf scar. It will push out at least two branches from there. If want to get rid of the stem to make the trunk more visible , then you can use a knife and but it flushed to the trunk. You can also remove all the older big leaves to make the the trunk of the plant make more visible.
It’s very simple and easy. Nothing to be scared. Jade plants react really well to pruning and get bigger and bushier. If are new to pruning make sure to remove one stem at a time the look and examine the plant again before deciding to remove another branch. You Can prune little bit and then prune again in few months when it has put out new growth. So it won’t look too bare.
Best time to prune - spring and summer is the best time to prune Jade. It’s a growing season. They put out a lot of new growth. It can recover faster after pruning. But you can do it any other time of the year as well if it really needs to pruned because they grow all year around.
