Rilo Kiley - "Portions for Foxes" (Drum Interpretation)

INTERPRETATION NOTE: Remember, I'm not saying my way is better or anything remotely like that. I only wanted to share how I might approach the song (after it's been written of course).

FOOTNOTES:
1 - I forgot to turn on the right light, but I loved this take so much I wasn't about to go back and "fix it". So we'll just call the right side a little dark.

2 - While I love the sound of this crash (21" Istanbul Dark Dry Brilliant Crash), it does NOT translate in recordings at all. Not in mine at least. I really need to replace it with something similar, but a little more volume to it.

3 - This is probably one of the bigger departures from the original drum track.

4 - So, I (as many my age did) had a crush on Jenny Lewis (singer) back when she was in "The Wizard" movie. Then my wife and I went to see her solo stuff at a live show here in town a few years ago. It was decent, but not really my speed. Last year we went to go see Rilo Kiley and normally, I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to this style of music, but for some reason Jenny Lewis' involvement totally sold me on it. Watching her sing, command a crowd, play guitar, play bass...this band is fantastic and I just had to do a song!

5 - Rilo Kiley does this a lot in their live shows. A sort of postscript, outro thing. So, I had to do it, too. :)
