Hamilton Soundtrack - "Alexander Hamilton" (Drum Interpretation)

FOOTNOTES:

1 - The arm/hand movements in between notes helps me keep time during the silence without clicking, hitting, or otherwise of anything on the kit. I got it from what front ensemble players would do in drum and bugle corps just before coming into a passage. It is the equivalent to a "dut" in field percussion/drum line. Though I found the hand movements more reliable in this setting.

2 - The way this whole process of drum interpretations works is 1) a song sounds enticing to me for whatever reason at the time 2) I put that song on Spotify (on a playlist I have) then 3) play that song over and over until I think it's ready and then 4) download the song and put it into Ableton and begin 5) recording takes and listening to the playback. From there, I really start writing and adjusting things. This song changed about 50% from what I played on Spotify to what ended up here. This spot in particular gave me fits at first.

3 - When it comes to writing drum parts, I tend toward working with how the vocals operate (or lead guitar). I don't know why. It's how I've always written drum parts. Of course, this has largely annoyed singers and guitarists over the years. I'm sorry, but I want to participate in the musical experience. Not just play beats. :)

4 - I debated on doing this little double bass thing, but found I couldn't stop myself with each interation.

5 - My wife and I saw Hamilton at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha, NE months ago. We went in exhausted and overdone. We didn't really enjoy the experience. It was really good and talented, but we couldn't really appreciate it the way we wished we could. Now, after the fact...yeah, it was some jams, man. Which is why I'm here doing this. :)
