2 suspects connected to robbery, killing of Parkland teen appear in court for first time

Two suspects arrested in connection with the robbery and deadly shooting of 17-year-old Braylon Diaz made their first court appearances Tuesday afternoon in Pierce County Superior Court.

The accused shooter has not been arrested, but the Pierce County Sheriff's Office has identified him as 21-year-old Brandon Torres-Messa.

Court records filed Tuesday allege Alyssa Marie Vaught-Barr, 26, was the getaway driver in the May 24 robbery and fatal shooting of Diaz in Parkland. Vaught-Barr was arrested Sunday night near Tulalip and booked into the Pierce County Jail.
