Beast Wars Writer Bob Forward on Toy Company Security and Character Personality Development at TFcon

How were the personalities of the Maximals and Predacons developed by the writers for the Beast Wars series? Writer Bob Forward recounts a trip to Hasbro in Cincinnati, and how they decided on character personalities on the flight home. The Beast Wars character personalities were further developed as the the writers discovered there was not a lot they do except to have the characters argue with each other since they were limited by CGI animation at the time. Optimus would not be the original Optimus, Cheetor would be the young brash type, Rattrap would be a Ratso Rizzo from Midnight Cowboy type, Rhinox would be "the big guy," - and Terrorsaur? Well, they may have not quite figured him out.
