Huge Abandoned Tuberculosis Hospital

ln the middle of a small forest in the Italian countryside there sits a huge old creepy abandoned hospital with a compelling history. The hospital was built during the influx of tuberculosis, otherwise known as the “white plague” that was killing people all across the world during the early twentieth century.
The hospital officially opened its doors in 1930 as a tuberculosis sanitarium. The sanitariums unique design featured massive open air porches and huge clear glass windows that provided the patients with as much natural sunlight and fresh air as possible, mainly as this was the preferred treatment modality for TB at that time. By the 1960’s, the sanatarium shifted to more of a hospital setting, where they still specialized in the treatment of respiratory diseases and infections. The hospital continued to operate until financial problems surfaced, leading to the it being permanently closed in 2007. The best part of exploring this abandoned Italian hospital is that it still had operating rooms, nuclear medicine rooms, cat scan equipment, a radiology area, a laboratory, a chapel, an auditorium, patient wings, and a morgue. With so much stuff left behind this is a video you don’t want to miss.

Rest In Paradise Rebecca. You are truly loved and missed by everyone. #Bwordliveson
