Knife Wielding Man Arrested After Killing His Mother & Stabbing Officer

LUFKIN, TEXAS – LPD (Lufkin Police Department) released surveillance and body cam footage of an incident where a knife wielding man was arrested after killing his mother & stabbing officer.

On January 15, 2021, LPD received a 9-1-1 call from a man who stated his wife contacted him and told him she needed help from the police. The surveillance video shows while inside a Lucky’s Convenience Store, a 26-year-old man wearing a yellow hoodie grabbed his 48-year-old mother and threw her to the floor and then got on top of her.

Shortly after, several Lufkin Police officers rushed in and pulled the man off his mother at which time, he then stabbed an officer in the side. According to police, it took four officers to get the knife away from him and take him into custody.

The officer and the female victim were rushed to a local hospital to receive medical treatment. The woman, unfortunately, died from her injuries and the officer is recovering.
